LIS623 I created a video for doing research on a music database from my Research Class LIS 623. I searched the Motion Picture Music for King Kong an oldie but a good classic. The Naxos Music database has far more capabilities than I used it for. This is a pretty amazing database and I learned a lot about it from this class. There are podcasts to listen to which happen to be a favorite of mine. They have been around for some time now but have really transitioned into a popular tool for technology. I did create a podcast for my website and it is very easy to use. Audacity can be downloaded for free and hit record and it allows up to 3 minutes and when finished hit save and there you have a podcast. An easy educational tool.
The researching of research databases was information that can be utilized for patrons as well as myself into the future. This knowledge is very valuable and it opens doors to all the great ways to find research information. Creating videos for teaching step by step procedures to researching is a valuable educational tool. The technology is very easy to use with free downloads of video software. Some programs offer a 30 day free trial and some of the ones offered are Camtasia, Jing, Screencast, and Snagit. I taught myself all of these technology tools and it was quite interesting to see the final product. These tools are more additions to my resume and hopefully a library someday. In real world experience I have worked in an autistic classroom and conveying information to this group of students is a challenge. Not only does the information need to be eye catching one must gain the eye contact of an autistic child. Autistic children do not participate with eye contact while doing any type of learning, communicating or playing. While I have this background experience which has helped me in creating any type of information either for a website or instructional material, colorful and eye catching with short to the point facts seems to work every time. |
