Final Chapter Keep Volunteering till a real job happens.
I will continue to volunteer with taking my grandson to Storytime at our public community library. I also volunteer at the public library when time allows. My new volunteer position is at the Literacy Council in Union County and I cannot wait to start. I have been a faithful volunteer throughout my life. I volunteered for scouts, at the hospital, at school with helping children read, sunday school teacher, and nursing home plus any place I could find needing help. It is a rewarding feeling to know you have assisted and helped someone with a need or a project. My favorite volunteering is assisting children to read. My philosophy is the quote by Dr. Seuss,
" You are never too old, too wacky, too wild
to pick up a book and read to a child."
I would also add that communication in a team environment is of the utmost quality ingredient. During classess there were many times that we were teamed up to create a project. Most of the teams were of great chemistry but there is always that one team where it just does not seem to click, no matter what you do. So my take away was communicate, communicate and communicate some more. This has been the greatest education I have received and it surpasses any of my expectations I had coming into this program. It is a great feeling to be among students and faculty who have the same passion as myself. I never could have imagined all of the people who love books, knowledge and people. Libraries are so unique and to be employed in one is a special honor, so all of the librarians out there count your blessings. Peace.
