LIS600, LIS674
In my LIS600 I had to write an action paper and create a presentation on a subject that we would advocate for. My passion is early literacy so I created both projects on this subject. These two documents are missing in action, they are not in the school's canvas nor on my computer. I really enjoyed creating these projects because of my passion and the assignment seemed to be so easy to accomplish. My time allows me to volunteer for the Literacy Council of Union County. This will not be a toddler but an older adult but I will take the same methods learned from storytime and use play, singing, talking, dancing, or whatever imaginative creativity I have at that moment. This is one area that I believe one can make a huge difference by just helping one person at a time. It may not affect everyone but to some degree one person should be able to become an avid reader with time and energy spent by a literacy advocate.

LIS674 titled Virtual Communities taught me how to think in the virtual world and with social media. Social media is time consuming and one cannot possibly be active in every platform available but a few that libraries can utilize:
- The new Snapchat for the younger patrons.
- Pinterest is my favorite and I can see libraries using this for book reviews or what to read next.
- Twitter is great for current events and feedback and having a Facebook presence is of the norm. Twitter can be used for a contest of a communities history.
- Tumblr can be used for curation of special collections and is a great platform.
- Youtube can be an event taped and played for those who did not attend or even a visual map of the inside of the library. New patrons moving into the community would benefit from this visual.
- Instagram is a great mobile app for just pictures of the library.
- The old fashioned libguides can now be on social media with Pinterest or the Google + collections application. The cost for libguides cannot compete with Google+ for free and the analytics are included. These platforms create more money in the budgets for other library services that are more needed.
